Phoenix-area city to offer free tax assistance for residents

PHOENIX — Even though Tax Day is still months away, Glendale officials want to help residents get ahead of the curve.
The city of Glendale paired by with AARP to offer free tax assistance at the Glendale Adult Center through April 18, otherwise known as Tax Day. The service is first-come, first-served and is provided on a walk-in basis on the following days:
• Monday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday and Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additional times are available at Christ Community Church on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Vista Alegre on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
While the service is aimed at moderate- to low-income people aged 60 and older, it is open to anyone. All volunteer preparers are IRS-trained and certified, but cannot help with business or complicated individual returns.
If you are looking to participate in this service, bring a proof of ID, social security cards for you, your spouse and any dependents, interest, dividend and brokerage statements, health insurance exemption certificate, a blank check, Forms 1095-A, B or C and, if applicable, itemized deduction information.
