The guide to Arizona Beer Week around the state

This article is Sponsored by Four Peaks Brewing Company

Whether you’re an Arizona local or just visiting for the winter months, stop by Arizona Beer Week for an event that tastes great. 2017 promises an interactive week of events with more variety, fun and food than ever before.

Below are some highlighted events to enjoy, no matter where you are across the state:

Northern Arizona

Those in Flagstaff and the northern part of the state aren’t left out by any means, with everything from the 2nd Annual All-Flagstaff Beer Collaboration on opening day to the Show Your Pride event where you can sport Lumberyard Gear for $1 off every pint. If up north is feeling a little chilly, take a load off and enjoy the warmth at Beer Brunch In the Mountain at the Black Horse Brewery in Show Low. Or if you’re on the lookout for a romantic date this Valentine’s Day, try the annual Valentines Beer and Chocolate Pairing at the Lumberyard Brewing Company. Plenty of other pairing events exist to whet your appetite for beer and good food, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy, like Pints for the Animals, where $1 from every pint goes to the local animal shelter.

Metro Phoenix

The Valley of the Sun is full of countless special events planned by brewers and restaurants for your enjoyment. Try a murder mystery party at the Vegas-themed Murder in Sin City event with the best beers around, or take your sweet tooth to the Donut Daze with ideal doughnut pairings, tasting and rare beers to boot! If you’re new to stronger beers, try the Strong Beer Education and Brewing Demo at OHSO Arcadia before stopping by the 17th Annual Arizona Strong Beer Festival at Steel Indian School Park.

Formal events abound, too, with the Mother Bunch Beer Dinner and the Valentine’s Day “I Love You Beerly” Dinner. If you have little ones with you, come to a family-style midafternoon High Tea at Gertrude’s, where guests are encouraged to dress up and enjoy a fantastic menu paired with six local brews. FP17_GSCP_Scotts

There’s no shortage of tap takeovers and meet-the-brewer events, but you definitely won’t want to miss the Four Peaks Girl Scout Cookie and Beer Pairing Social or the Four Peaks Beer Can Derby. Make sure to check the details on Facebook or on the Four Peaks website.

Southern Arizona

Our friends down south have plenty of events to enjoy, especially for those who love the outdoors: MudShark Brewing hosts a Full Moon Bike Ride in Saguaro National Park. Enjoy this 9-mile moonlit bike ride before taking in some food and featured MudShark brews.

For Valentine’s Day, stop by the Arizona Beer House in Tucson for MudShark’s St. Valentine’s Day Puppy Love Yappy Hour full of riotous fun and incredible beers. If you enjoy a good IPA, you can finish off the week with a drink at Dibo’s DIPA Celebration.

As you indulge in the local beer scene and enjoy over 400 beers on tap, get to know the brewers behind the beers. Countless distributors and partners will be available and willing to talk about their brewing processes. It’s also a good idea to arrange transportation home ahead of time, as many of these innovative beers have a high alcohol percentage. Keep track of the number of drinks you imbibe and drink responsibly so you can remember how much fun you had at Arizona Beer Week.
