PHOENIX — Pat yourself on the back, everyone: You’ve officially made it to the end of 2016. And with the end of the year comes the annual recap of KTAR’s most popular stories, broken down by month.

There has been a consistent number of headlines dominating the news cycle over the past 365 days, from the seemingly never-ending presidential election to the myriads of celebrities who put their Valley homes on the market.

But thanks to our ever-engaging audience, we have been able to report all different types of news happening around Arizona, the country and the world.

We started out the year fresh off of the Jodi Arias trial — remember her? — before diving into a tragic shooting at a Phoenix-area high school, a fatal officer-involved shooting and the protests that sparked in response.

However, with the downs, 2016 also had a lot of ups that our readers resonated with, including the appointment of Phoenix Police’s first female chief, former Arizona Diamondback Randy Johnson selling his home and the most beautiful Instagram posts of Arizona.

It’s been a long year of ups and downs, but we’re glad that you got to experience the ride with us. Now, sit back, relax, review 2016 with our most-read stories of the month and we hope to see you here again in 2017.

We want to hear from you.
