PHOENIX — Hearing the name ‘Flintstones’ and the phrase “Yabba dabba doo” might send many people down old memory lane. Thinking back to their childhood and watching Fred Flintstone slide down a dinosaur tail, or the caveman using his feet to operate his “car”.

Well, you might not be the only one who enjoys thinking about simpler times.

The travel magazine Afar ranked the craziest roadside attractions to be found throughout the country, and Arizona’s Bedrock City made an appearance.

When driving from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon, it’s hard to miss this colorful paean to cartoon kitsch. Built in 1972, the 30-acre park was one of a handful of Flintstones-themed campgrounds scattered throughout the country. The Hanna-Barbera show was already off the air by the ’70s, but syndication had made household names out of Fred, Wilma and the rest of the gang. And like Yogi Bear’s Jellystone campgrounds, these places were catnip for kids. Bronto slides, chickasaurus burgers, saber-tooth tiger statues –what bored-out-of-his-skull 8-year-old wouldn’t bed his parents to stop?

While the attraction is generating some well-earned respect from Afar‘s list, this is not the first time Bedrock has garnered attention.

The park was recently put up for sale in June 2015 for $2 million. Now, if you have that kind of money laying around, here’s a golden opportunity to be the owner of a fictional caveman establishment.

But, if you’re part of the 99 percent of Americans who don’t, it just costs $5 for admission. That’s a slightly cheaper alternative for a chance to experience a blast from the past.

We want to hear from you.
