PHOENIX — If you’re hesitant about bringing man’s best friend to the airport, you shouldn’t worry if you’re in the Valley.

The American Kennel Club, a nonprofit that is the largest purebred dog registry in the world, named the top 10 most dog-friendly airports in the country and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport made the list at No. 8.

Heather Lissner, a spokeswoman for the airport, said Sky Harbor was very pet-friendly, oferring seven animal relief areas. The airport also will be adding post-security pet areas in the near future.

“Pets are important to travelers and we recognize that we have many pets that come through the airport and it’s just another customer amenity that we offer to our travelers,” Lissner said.

Besides the space for the dogs, Sky Harbor provides mitts for cleanup and fire hydrants for bathrooms, leaving your pup with plenty of options before takeoff.

We want to hear from you.
