PHOENIX — The Tonto National Forest is announcing that all of its 2,000 Christmas tree permits have been sold out. Due to no more permits being available, the Payson Ranger District Office will not open on Saturday, Dec. 10.
For those who managed to obtain a permit, the Tonto National Forest requests that those individuals still prepare for any sudden weather changes and colder conditions.
Rangers of the forest also advise people to being prepared for any type of weather, and to please inform friends and family where you might be heading and when you plan to return.
The national forest suggested in a press release that people should also bring tire chains, shovel, first aid kit, tow chain, extra food and water, flares or matches, flashlight, blankets, warm clothing and a full tank of gas.
