Faith In Humanity: Nonprofit assists single moms pursuing college education

Helping Hands for Single Moms is a community-based nonprofit that is dedicated to single moms attempting to have a college education and financial independence all while raising their kids.
Mothers trying to balance midterms, finals, term papers and being a full-time mom while dealing with the finances can be too much, and that’s where the nonprofit’s supportive program comes in to help.
The group has been serving families of single mothers since 2002. Over 450 families have been in the program and 74 percent of their full scholarship clients have graduated or are currently enrolled.
The cumulative average GPA of Helping Hands moms since 2007 is an impressive 3.2, and even more impressive is a starting average career salary of $44,600 for the graduates.
Benefits for the moms in the program include an unrestricted scholarship of $270 per month, AAA towing, assistance with auto repairs, carpet cleaning, legal counsel and more.
