PHOENIX — Weather experts said rain was heading for Phoenix this weekend.
Mark O’Malley with the National Weather Service in Phoenix said it won’t be a lot of rain but it will be welcome. Phoenix has received 4.5 inches of rain at Sky Harbor Airport. That’s 1.5 inches below average to date.
“By the time you get up Saturday morning there could be a few showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms around the Valley,” O’Malley said.
He added there was a chance of thunderstorms.

Wet weather trend aside, O’Malley said next week was going be quite warm.
“Highs in the mid to upper 90s in Phoenix. You’re looking at about 5 degrees or more above average for this time of year.”
He also said there was a possibility that temperatures could reach 100 degrees Monday. The latest date in the year for a 100-degree day was Oct. 23, 2003.
