A charter bus carrying students along Interstate 5 north in California collided with a semi-truck Thursday, leaving at least nine dead and injuring 32, according to KRCTV.
Aboard the bus were 46 passengers — mostly students from the Southern part of California who were headed to visit Humboldt State University in the northern part of the state, the station reported.
The truck, a FedEx delivery vehicle, was headed south prior to the crash before crossing the center divider and colliding with the bus head on.
The crash occurred north of Highway 32 near Orland, Calif., which is situated approximately 100 miles north of Sacramento.
Both vehicles caught fire following the wreck, the California Highway Patrol said.
