Jim Sharpe unsure Arizona Republic’s Hillary Clinton endorsement will sway voters

While much is being made of The Arizona Republic’s endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, one of our own is unsure it will sway a lot of Arizona voters.

To be fair, it is the first time in the paper’s history that the editorial board has endorsed a Democratic nominee since it was founded in the late 1800s. However, Arizona’s Morning News host Jim Sharpe feels the endorsement will not have pull with an important voting group — young people — simply because they tend to not read the paper.

“This thing (the newspaper) is about as relevant to some millennials as a cassette Walkman,” he joked during a Wednesday appearance on MSNBC.

However, Sharpe said the paper is certainly influential and, in a tight race such as the one between Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in Arizona, it could end up being a big deal.
