Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence spoke in Mesa Thursday at one of the few campaign events left before Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton debate for the first time Monday.

Pence spoke for 25 minutes in front of a few hundred people and began his speech by discussing his family, leading into a story about spending July 4 weekend with Trump and his family.

“He loves his family and he loves this country and he’s going to be a great president of the United States,” Pence said.

Preaching the American dream, Pence listed what he and Trump plan to do from “day one” in office, such as repealing Obamacare and President Brack Obama’s executive orders.

He quickly glossed over immigration, claiming that, “we’re going to end illegal immigration once and for all,” and repeated Trump’s infamous line of, “we’re going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it.”

Before ending his speech and thanking the crowd for their prayers, Pence cited previous debates about character mattering for the president and that the American people “don’t need to have that debate again.”

“Character matters to the presidency and Donald Trump will bring the highest level of integrity to the highest office of the land,” Pence said.

Pence went on to answer questions for under 20 minutes before the event concluded.
