Just after Scottsdale, Arizona, was named one of the most fun cities in America, another study gave the city another big compliment.
TIME put out their version of the “Best Places to Live 2016,” and named 50 places in the country who deserve the honor.
Scottsdale came in on the list with the last spot, being named the 50th best place to live in the United States this year.
Before you move here, be sure you love golf, spas and a hot, sunny desert climate. Scottsdale boasts more destination spas per capita than any other city in the U.S.; among them are The Phoenician, The Canyon Suites, the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, and the Fairmont Princess Resort and Spa, all AAA Five-Diamond award-winners. These days, high-end restaurants, bars, galleries, and shops are plentiful around town. And let’s not forget golf: More than 200 courses enough for you?
The study looked at population, median home price, property tax, unemployment rate and commute time.
The annual Scottsdale Arts Festival (there are 125 professional galleries and studios here) and the Barrett-Jackson Auto Show draw huge crowds to the city. Taliesin West, architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and school, sprawls at the foot of the McDowell Mountains and is now a popular tourist attraction. A lesser-known Scottsdale claim to fame? The city developed the first robot-arm-operated garbage truck.
Scottsdale was the only city in Arizona named to the top-50 list.
Columbia, Maryland, took home the honor as the best place to live in 2016, with the “community” factor getting the city to the top.
