Arizona’s secretary of state: We’re ready for the election in November

PHOENIX — Arizona has had several election issues this year, but Secretary of State Michele Reagan claims the state is ready for November.
“We’re ready now and we continue to have the processes that we want to see in place, that’s what we’re working for every day,” Reagan said.
Arizona had more state-wide elections this year than usual, and with those came issues with long lines from not enough polling places, election website failures, proper voter information delivery, and foreign hackers trying to get voter information.
“The biggest thing I’m concerned with and speaking out about is the cyber security of our system; the ability for foreign intruders to come in and disturb the system,” she said.
Arizona narrowly escaped a major hack in June, Reagan noted.
“To be clear, a computer was hacked, our database was not hacked,” Reagan said. “We know that these threats are real and I’m charged with securing people’s data, their information — everything about all of our voters.”
It’s something Reagan said she’s taking very seriously.
“We’re taking the recommendations that the FBI gave us, a lot of those were already implemented, in fact I think all of them,” she said. “And then going beyond that and saying what do the cyber security experts out there also say that we could have or should have to be even more safe.”
Reagan was tight-lipped on some of the newer security measures.
“We’re implementing stuff every week and as far as what that entails, we are not going to let everyone know because I’d be giving you a road map,” she said.
