I-17 northbound reopened north of Black Canyon City after closure

The Interstate 17 northbound has been reopened in both lanes north of Black Canyon City after being closed earlier because of a brush fire, but traffic remains backed up. An Arizona Department of Transportation camera shows a traffic jam that ends near the I-17 and Anthem Way.

REOPENED: Both lanes are open again I-17 northbound heading north out of Black Canyon City. A long backup remains.

The closure occurred around 3:30 p.m. and the Arizona Department of Transportation anticipated an extended closure.

The fire, which was reportedly caused by a truck, is out.

While it has been reopened, delays are still expected due to the backup caused by the closure that lasted nearly an hour.
