Get ready to grill: Arizona monsoon to take break over Labor Day weekend

PHOENIX — For those folks planning to fire up the grill or spend time in the pool over the Labor Day weekend in Arizona, you don’t need to worry about monsoon storms.
The National Weather Service is predicting a relatively calm weekend when it comes to the weather.
“We could see a little bit of activity throughout the day (Friday), but nothing fairly organized or fairly large in terms of coverage,” Jessica Nolte with the weather service said.
Nolte said that forecast will hold through the holiday weekend and into the early part of next week.
“The middle part of next week, we get a healthy resurgence of moisture from the south that will definitely bring up our humidity and return shower and thunderstorm chances to our forecast,” she said.
Highs during the holiday weekend will be about 100 degrees, with low temperatures dropping into the mid- to high 70s.
