Breakup of NY ex-Gov. Spitzer, wife is uncontested

Jan 16, 2014, 2:13 AM

NEW YORK (AP) – A spokeswoman for former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his wife says the two have resolved all issues as they part ways after 26 years of marriage.

Lisa Linden issued a statement Wednesday saying their breakup is “uncontested.”

The statement came after reports the couple filed divorce papers in state Supreme Court in Manhattan. Linden wouldn’t comment on whether papers had been filed. Court records don’t show a divorce filing in the Spitzers’ names. Divorces can be filed anonymously.

Silda Wall Spitzer stood by her husband’s side in 2008 when he resigned as governor after admitting he paid for sex with prostitutes, but she largely stepped out of the public eye after that.

The couple announced last month that they were splitting up. They have three grown children.
