HAMPTON, Va. (AP) – The son of Washington Councilman Mayor Marion Barry has a Nov. 13 court date to answer charges in Virginia of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
Records in Hampton General District Court show that 33-year-old Marion Christopher Barry was arrested earlier this month. Media reports state that Barry was arrested after he was seen driving erratically.
Hampton police did not immediately respond to a message left Wednesday by The Associated Press.
Barry was released until his November court appearance. Directory assistance did not have a telephone listing for Barry.
Barry’s father, when he was mayor, was caught smoking crack cocaine in 1990. The younger Barry received a nine-month suspended sentence in September 2011 on charges of possessing marijuana and PCP.
The elder Barry is now a district councilman.
