BURBANK, Calif. (AP) – Police say a massive flash mob crowded downtown Burbank, Calif., to scope out some greased lightning.
Police tell City News Service that as many as 3,500 people and 1,100 cars crowded around the Krispy Kreme store in Burbank’s Empire Center on Tuesday. Despite the throngs of custom car lovers, there were no arrests.
The event was promoted through social media. It was expected to begin at 9 p.m. but police say cars started coming around 3:30 p.m., prompting police to close streets and freeway off-ramps.
More than 100 citations were issued for vehicle code and moving violations but the crowd was peaceful and broke up around 10:30 p.m.
