LOS ANGELES (AP) – A jury has awarded $8.8 million to the family of a robber who was shot and killed by a police officer east of Los Angeles in Culver City.
The Los Angeles Times (

Twenty-seven-year-old Lejoy Grissom was killed three years ago after an officer pulled over his car in a parking lot because he suspected Grissom had robbed a local electronics store.
Attorneys for the family say Grissom had robbed the store but posed no threat when he was shot.
Culver City Police Chief Don Pedersen says the department hasn’t decided whether to appeal.
