LEBANON, Maine (AP) – A New Hampshire man credited with saving the life of a 12-year-old Maine girl being mauled by her family’s pit bulls says the two dogs were trying to “tear the girl apart.”
Adam Horr, of Dover, N.H., was visiting friends in Lebanon on Saturday when he heard screams.
He knew immediately it was “something bad,” so he sprinted 75 yards through some woods that separate the properties.
The 41-year-old Horr tells The Portland Press Herald (

Police say the dogs jumped a fence while Angel Sargent played with her sister and a friend. She was treated for bites on her neck, legs and shoulder. Her mother says she is doing well.
