It was more than toasty outside in Phoenix last month, even based on the Valley’s standards.

It seemed nearly once or twice a week in the month of June, Phoenix was breaking another heat record for the day. In fact, there was a four-day stretch from June 3-6 where the heat record was broken every single day.

In all of June, there were five daily records broken, with the highest temperature at one point reaching 118 degrees on June 19.

The National Weather Service announced that Phoenix tied their record for the warmest June at an average temperature of 94.8 degrees, which was first set in 2013. The city also tied their warmest average low temperature in June at 82.1 degrees, which was originally achieved last year.

The average high temperature for Phoenix was 107.4 degrees, which tied for the fifth warmest June in city history. The record for the average high temperature in June was 108.6 degrees in 1974.

All of those averages are well beyond the norm, as Phoenix usually sees a daily temperature of 90.8 degrees and an average low temperature of 77.7 degrees.

Phoenix wasn’t the only city in the Valley tying at least one record. Yuma, Arizona, tied their driest June ever, as they only had .01 inches of precipitation.
