PHOENIX — According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released this week, workers in the Phoenix area take home 3 percent less in wages than average across the country.
Numbers that were made available Tuesday showed that the average employee in the Phoenix metropolitan area earned $22.45 an hour last May compared to the U.S. average of $23.23 an hour.
Despite this, the Phoenix area did have higher wages than other areas for some occupations.
Postmasters and mail superintendents, radio and television announcers and semiconductor processors all make the second-highest wages in Phoenix compared to other metro areas across the country.
The highest-paid occupations in Phoenix according to the data were management positions and legal positions, making a little more or less than $50 an hour.
