Authorities find family reported missing on Arizona hike

PHOENIX — A family who were reported missing after failing to return from a weekend hike in Arizona has been found safe, authorities said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said the foursome — a father, his son and two young granddaughters — were found Monday afternoon. The family of Williams Swango, 57, had last been seen about 10 a.m. Sunday when they left to go hiking on Mount Lemmon, about an hour’s drive from Tucson.

The sheriff’s office said staff had made contact with one of the men on a cellphone.
Their vehicle had been found near the Butterfly Trail trailhead.
Besides Swango, his son Ronald, 27, and granddaughters Riley, 6, and Layla, 4, had all been reported missing.
Authorities only said the family members appeared to be all right and that several tips had been called in to the department.
