US institute: All quiet at NKorea test sites

WASHINGTON (AP) – A U.S. research institute says there’s no sign in satellite imagery that North Korea is readying another long-range rocket launch or nuclear test.

North Korea has previously announced it would conduct more rocket tests and has also hinted at a follow-up to its Feb. 12 atomic test.

The director of U.S. intelligence voiced concern Tuesday about Pyongyang’s capabilities, its belligerent rhetoric and the possibility it could attack South Korea.

But at least at the North’s two rocket test facilities, things appear quiet. An analysis written for 38 North, the website of the U.S.-Korea Institute, says that imagery as of early March shows no signs of preparations for launches in the next month.

Editor Joel Wit also says that as of end February, aerial photos showed no indications of another nuclear test.
