Armed robbery suspect shoots 3 in Phoenix stores

PHOENIX — An armed robbery suspect shot three people at two stores in the early hours Wednesday in Phoenix.
The victims were expected to survive their injuries.
Police said an unidentified man walked into a convenience store near McDowell Road and 24th Street around 12:45 a.m. and drew a weapon. He began firing and wounded a clerk.
The suspect drove away in a red late model sedan with light-colored trim on the driver’s side.
About half an hour later, the car pulled up to another convenience store near Thomas Road and 23rd Street. The suspect again pulled out a weapon and began firing once inside the store, shooting another clerk. Police said an armed customer returned fire and was also wounded.
Sgt. Vincent Lewis was unsure the amount of money or what else was taken.
