PHOENIX — Presumed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had two of Arizona’s most famous opening acts for his Saturday rally in Phoenix.

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio both spoke at Trump’s rally at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the Arizona State Fairgrounds just west of downtown Phoenix.

Both Brewer and Arpaio have been vocal in their support of Trump’s campaign and Saturday was no different.

Calling Trump “the people’s choice,” Brewer told a crowd of thousands, “He’s one of us.”

In the wake of a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Brewer came out this week in support of Trump and his proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States. She echoed those comments at the rally.

“He will fight for us, and he will fight against radical Islamic terrorism,” she said.

Brewer also backed up one of Trump’s main running platforms: The promise to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border that will be funded by the Mexican government.

“He will build the wall,” she said, which was followed by a chant of “build that wall” from the crowd.

Arpaio’s speech focused more on criticizing other Republicans for not openly supporting Trump, especially Gov. Doug Ducey.

“We have heard them say ‘We will support the nominee,'” Arpaio said. “I want them to say, ‘I will support Donald Trump as the nominee.’

“Get a few guts to say that. Evidently, they would rather have Hillary (Clinton).”

Arpaio also called on Clinton and President Barack Obama to visit Mexico more, because “this is our most important country when you are talking about trade.”
