Phoenix — Improvement projects will require lane restrictions and ramp closures along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced four different freeways will be affected in at least some fashion, and that drivers should plan ahead when traveling.
Northbound Loop 101 will be narrowed down to three lanes between Southern Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday for paving. The on-ramps at Southern Avenue and Broadway Road will be closed.
The left lanes in both directions on Loop 202 between Van Buren and 52nd streets and Loop 101 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday for sign work.
Eastbound Grand Avenue (U.S. 60) will be narrowed to only the left lane being open from 2:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday for construction. It will be narrowed to two lanes at Thunderbird Road from Saturday morning through the fall.
Northbound Loop 303 off- and on-ramps at El Mirage Road will be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for pavement-markings work. Drivers should use Williams Drive to 117th and 115th avenues to Happy Valley Parkway to reach northbound Loop 303. Drivers trying to exit can get off at Happy Valley Parkway and turn at the interchange to enter southbound Loop 303 and then exit at El Mirage Road.
