The filming of a “Transformers” movie segment on Loop 303 doesn’t mean more films will be shot in Arizona.

Phil Bradlock with the Phoenix Film Office says the state hasn’t offered film incentives since 2010. “In the past, we’ve had small [productions] come through, but typically they were only here for a day or two,” he said.

From 2006 to 2010, Arizona offered tax and other breaks to film production companies. 56 films were shot here during those four years, bringing in millions.

Daniel Scarpinato, a spokesman for Governor Doug Ducey’s office, says there’s no plans to revive that film incentive. “You’re talking about taking taxpayer dollars from the general fund, and giving that business or industry money back,” he said. “Our focus has been how do we make the overall tax climate and tax code fair, so we don’t have to do that.”

Meanwhile, the fifth segment of the “Transformers” franchise will be in town until Wednesday. Loop 303 will be closed between I-17 and Lake Pleasant.
