PHOENIX — A Phoenix woman who was the main suspect in the stabbing deaths of her three little boys has been charged with suspicion of murder, authorities said.
Octavia Renee Rogers was booked into a jail Sunday on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder.
The children, Jaikare Rahaman, 8, Jeremiah Adams, 5, and Avery Robinson, 2 months, had been stabbed multiple times each.
Rodgers, 29, was booked after she was released from a hospital, where she was treated for self-inflicted wounds and an attempted drowning.
The boys were found dead in a closet early Thursday morning in the home near 25th Avenue and Bell Road that Rodgers shared with her brother and mother.
Rodgers’ brother came home from work around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a barricaded door. He broke in and founds Rodgers bleeding profusely from wounds in her stomach and neck. He called emergency dispatch.
The Arizona Department of Child Services had visited the home three times since 2010, most recently when the infant was born.
All three incidents revolved around reports of marijuana use in the house and two times a child had suffered a minor injury.
The agency said in a release last week, “There was no reason or legal grounds to take the children into emergency state care and the case was closed as unsubstantiated.”
