According to Phoenix Business Journal, Arizona State University’s athletic facilities district is nearing the finalization of its planning for the first phase of development.
The district developer Catellus and the university are approaching completion of the plans for the first phase of the district, located on the Northwest corner of University Drive and Rural Road.
The buildings will be located on the 19-acre plus site.
The district plans on including office buildings, an apartment complex, and ground-floor retail, totaling over 500,000 square feet.
A legislature approved the district, which will serve as a way for the university to lease land to private developers to generate revenue in order to renovate Sun Devil Stadium and other athletic facilities without a tax increase.
The entire project totals 330 acres.
