(AP) – In a story Oct. 22, The Associated Press reported that 14,500 pages of Boy Scout confidential files were released as a consequence of a $20 million lawsuit against the Scouts. The documents were used as evidence in a $20 million lawsuit against the Scouts by a Portland, Ore., man who alleged he was abused by his assistant scoutmaster. The files became public after news organizations including The Oregonian, The New York Times, Oregon Public Broadcasting and The Associated Press won a court case against the Scouts to have the files released.
