GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – The mother of an Oregon woman who disappeared Tuesday in suspicious circumstances urged the suburban Portland community to keep looking for her.
Lorilei Ritmiller, the mother of 21-year-old Whitney Heichel (HY’-kel), said Thursday that her daughter’s nickname within the family is “Mama,” because she’s like a second mother to her siblings.
Heichel’s husband reported her missing after she did not show up for work at her job at a nearby Starbucks in Gresham, a Portland suburb.
Her car was later found at a Wood Village parking lot with the passenger side window smashed.
Police Chief Craig Junginger said “property” has been recovered at several locations, but it’s uncertain if it’s related to the case.
Investigators are also examining video.
