PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Authorities say all three women found dead inside an overturned car that went off a Newport Harbor pier in Rhode Island drowned.
A state Department of Health spokeswoman said Tuesday that autopsies showed that Louise Owen of Wales in the United Kingdom and Femmetje Staring of the Netherlands drowned. Health officials said previously that Jennifer Way of North Kingstown drowned.
The car was discovered on its roof in about four feet of water Friday morning. The bodies of the women, each 39 years-old, were found inside. It is not clear what happened. Police have ruled out foul play and speculate the women missed a turn in heavy fog that blanketed the city early that morning.
