JOHNSONS LANDING, British Columbia (AP) – Officials say emergency crews have recovered the body of a third victim who died after her family’s home was crushed by a huge landslide in a tiny western Canada town.
Coroner Lisa LaPointe said Thursday that 17-year-old Rachel Webber’s body was found Wednesday near the front of what had been her home in the hamlet of Johnsons Landing, a southeastern British Columbia community.
LaPointe says the bodies of her father Valentine Webber, 64, and her sister Diane, 22, were found in the same area last week.
At least three homes were crushed after a wall of rock, mud and trees cascaded down the side of a mountain earlier this month.
A German tourist, Petra Frehse, 64, remains missing. The search for her body has ended.
