ATLANTA (AP) – A 75-year-old Atlanta man has been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in the February, 2011 shooting death of a tow truck driver.
The Fulton County district attorney’s office says a jury on Thursday convicted Philmore Reed of murder and other offenses in the death of Travis Fenty, an employee of Quick Drop Towing. Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter sentenced Reed to life plus five years in prison.
Fenty and a colleague were attempting to tow Reed’s unauthorized vehicles from a parking lot when Reed opened fire with a shotgun from a nearby rooftop, striking Fenty in the chest. Reed later surrendered to police who had surrounded the building. He told detectives, “With all this stuff going on about my property, I have no remorse.”.
