Police find body in storage unit’s freezer

VENTURA, Calif. (AP) – Police found the body of a California man missing for more than two years in a freezer in his girlfriend’s storage unit, authorities said Thursday.
Officers found the body of Jeffrey Korber in June after searching the unit in Ventura as part of a homicide investigation, Ventura police Cmdr. Darin Schindler said.
Now, police are seeking more information about Mary “Francesca” Hannan, 66, and her son Michael Bresnak, Schindler said.
Ventura police said in a statement they believe Bresnak killed Korber at his mother’s Ventura home and that she helped him store the body. Police declined to release additional details of the killing.
Bresnak, 49, is currently in the Ventura County jail on an unrelated violation of the terms of his release for a drug-related conviction, police said. He has not been charged in this case.
Hannan, who is listed as an attorney on the State Bar of California’s website, has not been arrested. Efforts to reach her by telephone were not immediately successful.
Korber was reported missing by his brother in July 2011 in Laguna Beach. Police in the Orange County city tried to track down Korber, who did not hold down a job and spent much of his time traveling across the country and staying with friends, Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said.
Investigators tracked then-58-year-old Korber to Hannan’s home in Ventura. Police interviewed Hannan for more than two hours and learned the two had a dating relationship and he had received mail at a post office box registered to her home, Kravetz said.
Authorities later found Korber’s 1991 Toyota Celica had been towed from a parking lot at Los Angeles International Airport.
After that, police had no more leads on Korber’s whereabouts until a little over a month ago, when the body was found, Kravetz said.
