JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi investigators say they will give prosecutors evidence Monday in hopes that it can be used to indict two people on charges of desecrating the corpse of a Bourbon Street stripper.
Margaret Sanchez and Terry Christopher Speaks, both of Louisiana, are suspects in the death of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart.
Lockhart’s torso and other body parts were found on Mississippi beaches in June 2006.
Don Bass is chief deputy of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department in south Mississippi.
He says investigators aren’t sure where Lockhart was killed. But he says investigators will present evidence to the district attorney’s office about desecration of a corpse charges.
Bass hopes that it will be presented to a grand jury. He says an indictment would allow authorities to hold the two while the investigation continues.
