Pa. victim’s ashes brought to men’s sentencing

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) – A family member of a northeastern Pennsylvania manslaughter victim brought his ashes to court as two men were sentenced for beating him.
The Times-News reports (
http://bit.ly/KAfHrc) the woman, identified only as a cousin of 22-year-old Rene Ramos Rosario, cradled the green marble urn Wednesday as Lackawanna County Judge Vito Geroulo read the sentences.
Twenty-two-year-old Ronald Dean was sentenced to one to five years, and 29-year-old Joseph Lee Powell received 2 1/2 to five years.
The men beat Rosario in the driveway of a North Scranton business in October, causing a heart attack that killed him. They each pleaded guilty in March to one count of involuntary manslaughter.
