Ga. man gets prison time in Tenn. courthouse plot

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Georgia man who boasted of a plan to take over a Tennessee courthouse in his quest to oust public officials has been sentenced to four years in prison for transporting firearms across state lines with intent to cause a civil disorder.
The U.S. attorney’s office said in a release that 42-year-old Darren Wesley Huff of Dallas, Ga., was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Knoxville. He was convicted on a federal firearms charge last October.
Huff was armed with a handgun and an assault rifle in April 2010 when he and others arrived in Madisonville, between Knoxville and Chattanooga.
Huff testified during his trial that he was supporting a local resident in trying to arrest local officials but said he didn’t intend to take over the courthouse.
