TUNICA, Miss. (AP) – Bond has been set at $1.25 million for a north Mississippi man charged in a fatal highway shooting and a separate abduction and rape case.
Authorities say 28-year-old James Willie was in the Tunica County Jail after a Justice Court judge set bond during his initial court appearance.
Willie is charged with murder in the May 11 shooting of a casino worker found dead in her car in northwestern Mississippi.
Willie also is expected to be charged in the May 8 slaying of a Nebraska motorist on Interstate 55 also in the northwestern part of the state.
The two shootings originally made authorities think a person was posing as a police officer to pull people over. Later they said that wasn’t the case.
