Denver man convicted of killing 3-year-old child

DENVER (AP) – A Denver jury has found a man guilty of murder, child abuse and abuse of a corpse in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter, whose body was found in a trash bag.
Twenty-six-year-old Angel Montoya was found guilty Monday in the 2007 death of Neveah Gallegos.

Prosecutors say he killed Neveah while her mother was at work, and that the couple made up a story that the girl had been kidnapped.
Neveah’s mother, Miriam Gallegos, is serving 12 years in prison, followed by five years of mandatory parole for child abuse resulting in death.
