COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio regulators have granted an operating license to a company slated to open the state’s first casino this month.
The state Casino Control Commission granted the license Wednesday to Rock Ohio Caesars, and allows them to move forward with the May 14 opening of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland.
The commission’s decision follows its review of a lengthy report by a gambling consulting group on the company’s finances. Company officials testified in April about ongoing plans for the casino, including its local hiring practices and security measures.
The Cleveland casino is one of four voter-approved casinos in Ohio and the first expected to open. Casinos also are planned in Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
