Man charged in Oahu shooting spree fit for trial

Apr 9, 2012, 11:30 PM

HONOLULU (AP) – A pastor’s son accused of going on an Oahu highway shooting rampage last year that killed a mother of 10 has been found mentally fit to stand trial.

Toby Stangel faces murder, attempted murder and other charges after authorities say he went on a shooting spree in June. Tammy Nguyen was killed and two others injured.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports a state judge found the 29-year-old Stangel fit to stand trial Monday based on reports of three mental health experts appointed last month to examine him.

KHON-TV reports the judge scheduled trial to begin June 12.
