TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Police have cited the owner of an Arizona nightclub for alleged violations of the venue’s security plan after a shooting injured 16 people last weekend.
Tempe police said Friday that the owner of the Clubhouse Music Venue violated the city code, which is a misdemeanor.
The club’s security plan permit has been revoked by police. The owner has five days to appeal the decision and the business can continue to operate during that time.
Investigators have recovered two guns allegedly used in the March 2 shootout between rival gangs as up to 300 people waited in line outside the club for a rap concert.
Authorities believe the shooting started after three members of the South Phoenix Vista Bloods taunted rival gang members. One suspect has been arrested so far.
