LOS ANGELES (AP) – In a story March 2 about a man who was mistakenly deported and later died in a prison fire in Honduras, The Associated Press erroneously reported that the Department of Justice notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement of a stay order in the man’s case. ICE was notified of the stay order on Sept. 30 by Nelson Avila-Lopez’s lawyer, which is the procedure for notification, according to the DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.
