Ky. pulls ‘roadkill’ site promoting state to Brits

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – A website that promoted Kentucky to British tourists as a place to play “roadkill bingo” while visiting horse farms and bourbon distilleries has been taken down.
The website was part of a $179,900-a-year contract between the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet and British marketing firm Gosh P.R.
Cabinet spokesman Gil Lawson said Wednesday that state officials have also canceled the contract with the company.
Lawson told the Lexington Herald-Leader (
http://bit.ly/x4xHyn) that some of the content on the website was offensive, including a game to track the number of dead animals along roadsides. Lawson said the website also contained inaccuracies about the state. It misspelled Lewis of the famed Lewis and Clark expedition, and erroneously said tourists can visit Hazzard County. Kentucky has no Hazzard County.
