Ohio plant shooting victim sues security company

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – An employee wounded in a 2005 shooting at a Jeep assembly plant in Ohio has filed a lawsuit against the plant’s security company and the gunman’s estate.
The lawsuit seeks damages starting at $500,000 for injuries, medical costs, emotional damage and other losses. The suit says Paul Medlen has undergone multiple surgeries, has permanent scarring and still has bullet-pellet fragments in his body from the January 2005 shooting by Myles Meyers. It accuses Toledo Jeep’s security firm of negligence.
Meyers, a recently disciplined Chrysler employee, slipped into the plant with a shotgun. He killed one man and wounded two before killing himself.
A spokesman for defendant G4S Secure Solutions (USA) declined to comment Friday on the pending litigation.
The Lucas County suit is a new version of an earlier lawsuit.
