Brief thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail hit Valley

The Valley was hit by brief runs of thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail on Sunday.

The National Weather Service reported that rain was moving through the Phoenix area in the late morning and thunderstorms would follow in the afternoon.

The storm moved into downtown and central Phoenix around noon Sunday, moving from the west.

Arriving with the heavy rain and thunderstorms was hail in some areas of the Valley.

According to 12 News, more than 2,600 APS customers were without power in the early afternoon. The outage was due to a downed power line issue. Those outages were reduced to only eight customers around 4:30 p.m.

The third mostly brought only light rain.
