San Xavier del Bac Mission defaced with satanic graffiti

PHOENIX — The historic San Xavier del Bac Mission and nearby cemetery were extensively vandalized with satanic graffiti, officials said Thursday morning.
The Tucson mission’s administration found graffiti reading “666” and “Hail Satan” on the front and sides of the landmark, which is undergoing a years-long renovation.
Crews began cleaning off the black spray paint early Thursday and removed all of the graffiti by 1 p.m. The mission remained open despite the widespread marring.
According to the mission’s website, the original structure was built in 1692. The mission was locked, barring the vandals from possibly enact further destruction.
The Tohono O’odham Police Department is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact TOPD at 520-622-1587.
