BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) – Hundreds of people gathered at a ceremony to remember the Navy pilot and his sister who were killed along with two others in a New Year’s Day murder-suicide.
The Bakersfield Californian reports (

His 24-year-old sister Karen Reis was said to be a great role model and volleyball coach who hoped to become an occupational therapist.
Authorities say the siblings were killed at a Coronado condominium when another pilot, John Robert Reeves, shot himself in the head, and took three other people with him.
Reeves and David Reis were both training as F/A-18 fighter pilots assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101 of the Third Marine Aircraft Wing at nearby Miramar Air Station.
